Day 19: Anchored In Hope

Hebrews 6:19

Hope is a word so often thrown around in our society. I hope you have a great day. I hope my flight comes on time. I hope I studied enough for this test. How we see hope in these ways, we aren’t seeing it as a certainty, as unwavering, as an anchor. But what does hope really mean? A few examples of words that align with hope are: confidence, anticipation, courage, and expectation.

Hebrews 6:19 says that “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure…” The context of this verse is talking about God’s promises that remain and the hope we have in Jesus. Our hope of who Jesus is and the unfailing promises that apply to us is unchanging. This hope will never let us down. Our hope can be so secure in who God is that it is actually an anchor for our souls.

What do you need to hold onto hope for today? How does this anchored hope effect your trust in Christ?

Spend time this morning in worship, may I suggest you listen to Anchor by Hillsong Worship here.

  1. An excellent reminder of the hope we have in Christ. I have a situation right now where my hope is in Him.
