Dec. 3/23 Bulletin
Here are the announcements for the coming week: Prayer Requests & Praise Reports – send by Friday 8pm Please send your prayer requests and praise reports to prayer@chapelridge.ca by 8pm on Friday, to have them included in the Saturday prayer bulletin. Sunday Service: 10am The service will live-stream at live.chapelridge.ca/. Pastor Luke will be continuing our series on the book of 1 Corinthians, with a look at chapter 6. Unhindered Crafting Day – TOMORROW – Sat. Dec. 2, 9am-4pm Bring a project you are working on, and all the materials needed, and join other creative people for a day of fellowship and creativity. Pack a lunch and some snacks to keep you going. Contact Jenna-Rae Smith for more details at thesmithfamilyclan@gmail.com Friends for Dinner – deadline to register as a host is December 10 Friends for Dinner is a collaboration between local churches and Christian student organizations to connect friendly Canadians with international students in order to show them hospitality and build friendships, specifically around the traditional holidays of Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you are interested in hosting some international students in your home for a Christmas dinner anytime during the Christmas season, please register via this link. The Friends for Dinner team will match you with some students. You then contact your student guests to arrange a time when they can join you in your home for a meal. Sadly, most international university students are never invited to a Canadian home while in Canada! In recent campaigns, students have been turned away because of a lack of hosts so your family can make a difference! Contact Jevin Maltais, Bev Frankish or Pastor Ken (F4D Ottawa team members) for details. You can also visit friendsfordinner.ca for details. Young Married’s Collective Christmas Party – Fri. Dec. 15, 7pm at Andrew & Lauren Roth’s home The Collective is a social group of married couples (Approx 25-45 years old) at Chapel Ridge that gets together “kid-free” several times a year for laid-back fun, food, laughs, and shared experiences (no agenda – just a chance to hang out and get to know each other better). Our Christmas party always proves to be a great time with our crazy gift exchange and good food to eat. An email will be going out in the next few days to those who have attended in the past. We are always excited to have new couples join us, so if you are married and in the general age-range, please let Jared Grover know you’re interested in joining us, now or in the future and he will add you to the emails. To let us know you plan to come on Dec. 15, please contact Jared at (thegroverconnection@gmail.com). Making Christmas Plans? Here are our services over Christmas and New Year’s Christmas Eve morning – Sunday Dec. 24 @ 10am Christmas Eve services – Sunday Dec. 24 @ 5 and 7pm New Year’s Eve morning – Sunday Dec. 31 @ 10am New Year’s Eve Games Night – Sunday Dec. 31, 7pm to ~midnight Nominations for the L.E.T. (Church Board) Your nominating committee has been meeting and praying about who might fill LET positions starting in 2024. As part of this process, we are inviting you to propose anyone who you think might qualify to serve on the LET team. This is your opportunity to suggest possible candidates as there will not be an opportunity to suggest them during our Connection Meeting (AGM) in late January. The term is for two years and can be renewed 3 times for a total of 6 years before a member has to step off the LET. From our Free Methodist Manual, here are the qualities we are looking for of a potential LET member: ¶630.3.3.2 Leadership in the Church Leadership in the church is an honour that has accompanying responsibilities and sacrifices. The Scriptures provide descriptions of the qualities of leaders in such passages as: Exodus 18:21, Acts 6:3, 1Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9. Those who are chosen to lead in the church do so in a spirit of humility and dependence upon God. They must be spiritually mature individuals whose lifestyle shall be in harmony with the Scriptures, the doctrine of The Free Methodist Church in Canada (¶100-131), the principles of the Membership Covenant (¶156-160) and of ¶620, ¶630. They must live personal and public lives that clearly exemplify these principles. The role and responsibilities of the official board can be seen at this link: ch.3, pg11 – https://fmcic.ca/wp-content/uploads/The-Manual-of-the-Free-Methodist-Church-in-Canada-May-2018.pdf Please feel free to send your nominations to any of the committee members: Eugene Zubryn ezubryn@gmail.com Cheryl Martin dcmartin613@gmail.com Brody Smith brody_s@hotmail.com Mark Peterkins mark@peterkins.ca Monthly National Prayer Meeting for the FMCIC We have FMCIC “relatives” and we need to pray for them and together with them. Churchtrac is the system we have been using increasingly over the past year. It is used for registrations, service organization and volunteer scheduling. Here is a video from Pastor Luke explaining how you can get connected with Churchtrac. We encourage everyone to watch (13 minutes). ***Please note, we have since learned that the feature of checking children in on your phones does not allow the labels to be printed, so for the time being, you will need to continue to check-in with our wonderful volunteers at the check-in station.
