Day 5: One Heart – One Mind

Art by Yukari Wilson

“”Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
All the believers were one in heart and mind.”
Acts 4:28-32a

‘Threats’ what threatens you?

Peter and John were called in and commanded not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus Acts 4:18

Who is telling you not to speak, not to share, not to be bold? Maybe that person is the same one starting back at you in the mirror every morning. Maybe the threat is external, the pressure of life, the pace of work, the fear of failure, the fear of others. What threat is upon you?

They prayed to God “consider their threats”. God wants to understand what threatens you, are you bringing those threats to him? God replace our threats with boldness.

‘After prayer’, prayer precedes a moving of the Spirit. This time of praying and fasting is in anticipation of the move of the Spirit at our church. What will happen after we pray? What are you hopeful for? What part of your life, your church , your family, your prayer life, your spiritual life needs shaking? May this shaking result in speaking God’s words. How can you proclaim boldly? Who in your life needs your boldness?

‘One in heart and mind’ this is the beautiful byproduct I believe we are seeking during this time of consecration. After a season of praying and hearing from the Lord together we as a group of people can be of one heart and mind.

Our Lord,

For those who have been here for many years and are on the sideline, God, set them apart for you work.

For those who have been faithfully serving and are tired, Lord, fill them again with your strength.

For those who have been here for a little while and have yet to engage, Lord, help them to belong and find a place in your kingdom.

For those who are very new at this church, God, give them a taste of your Spirit, help them to know if this is the place for them to serve you.

For all of us on this journey together, may we lay down the things that hinder us. Show us Lord how we can be set apart for your kingdom. Lord, will you give us one heart and mind.

Amen

  1. I found this challenging, especially the “Who is telling you not to speak, not to share, not to be bold? Maybe that person is the same one staring back at you in the mirror every morning.” I think that I have discovered exactly what I am fasting and praying for – Boldness! Thank you for sharing this.

  2. A need to say what needs to be said to a few members of my family who usually manage to make me stop before I really say what needs to be said.
